Dear Reader,
We are serving in the West Indies Mission as a couple, and we have grown so much from the experience! Now we are on the slippery slide to the end in February, 2009, and we do not want to leave our dear friends here in Vieux Fort Branch without another couple to come and provide loving support for their growth.
So step into the world we love so much, feel the spirit of the place and the people, and then pray for guidance. You may be the couple that the Lord would have serve here or in another wonderful place in the West Indies Mission.

One of the best things about our apartment is that the Vieux Fort Branch is a 7 minute drive from our apartment, and it is easily accessible for anyone living in the village.

Culture and Environment
Picking up some groceries at the street market. Avocados and oranges bigger than grapefruits, bora beans in 18" edible pods, mangoes and bananas. All kinds of bananas! Many of these crops are grown on slopes so steep it seems impossible to get to them, let alone farm on them!
It takes training and practice from early childhood to master the ability to carry a load on the head with as much ease as this woman demonstrated.
Sister Williamson shows a few giant leaves found on a short walk through the tropical rain forest which is only a few miles from Vieux Fort. Nothing is to leave the forest, so she collected them long enough for this picture to be taken.
Bright colors in dress and decor are characteristic of the Caribbean, perhaps because of the beautiful sunrises and sunsets here.
Here is a view of the Petit Piton, a volcanic cone. It is very near its brother, the Gros Piton. They are the defining geographical sites on the island. Look them up on the web!
Most Wonderful of All - The People!
These girls are grandchildren of one of our members. Though not baptized, they attend regularly.
The 10 and 11 year old children meet at the bottom of the stairs or on the porch of the business downstairs.
The 6 - 9 year old children have class on the balcony.
The 2 through 5 year old children meet in the only other classroom. If it rains, all three groups stay together in this room.

Branch Service Activities
The Elders, Elder Williamson and some of the Young Men clear brush from church yard. They love to follow the service with lunch and an hour or so at the beach.
